This is why many composers end up delegating these tasks to professional orchestrators, specialized in the art of bringing the best out of pre-existing music upgrading it to a higher level.

SCORE PREPARATION
A very important stage in a production with recorded studio music is the preparation of scores and the musician’s material. This depends on the efficiency in time management during the rented studio hours given that a mistake, a problem in editing, last minute changes, etc. can mean having to stop the recording to take time and correct. It is in many cases necessary to have a person in charge of supervising, that knows beforehand the composed music and the instrumental template we have, who is keeping up with the number of copies we need, etc.
ADAPTATIONS, REDUCTIONS, TRANSCRIPTIONS
ORCHESTRAL ARRANGEMENTS
Nowadays it is very common to find composers that directly enunciate their music through sequencers, sound libraries… but there are moments in which it is needed to transport this musical material to the world of scoring to be able to record it in a real studio with studio music. Many times you can find a MIDI file to begin with, but other times the process becomes more complex and you need to transcribe this music manually, the old-fashioned way. This is one of the situations where a musical arranger is needed; translate audio language into written musical scores.
In the same way, musical arrangers play an important role in the most professional productions acting as a “second composer”, having a wider view, studying the music balance and assessing what points need more or less musical input – how to enrich the presentation. Finally, the reductions and adaptations are many times necessary when taking live music into already produced ones.
